Daria Ivanova, a graduate of the journalism faculty, works for a popular weekly magazine. Despite the obvious successes, he considers the current occupation empty and unnecessary, and therefore seeks to work in the genre of investigative journalism. One day she gets the chance. And although the girl has only very general ideas about law, she really wants to make a career, and working in a popular newspaper is an excellent launching pad. In addition, Daria has a fiance – the investigator of the city prosecutor's office Anton Nikitin. Counting on his help, Daria becomes the leading "Judicial column".

The transporting of a distillation colurm, 137 feet long, 500 miles by road from Greenwich to Grangemouth in Scotland. The commentary, spoken by the rigger in charge and one of the tractor drivers, expresses the humour and resourcefulness with which these transport workers tackle their job; and the camera has captured moments of beauty as well as some amusing episodes in this journey of the longest load to travel by road in Britain.

Set in the jungle of the Congo Free State in 1887–88, the story begins after explorer Henry Morton Stanley, has gone to relieve Emin Pasha, governor of Equatoria, from a siege by Mahdist forces. He leaves behind him a 'rear column' with supplies at the Yambuya camp on the Aruwimi River and instructs them to wait until the Arab slave trader, Tippu Tib, has brought 600 more porters before following on to Equatoria. The play follows the story of the men left waiting in the camp. The officers depicted in the play are based on historical figures.

In the second story, a doctor hypnotizes a man who's been having an affair with his wife to kill her, or hopefully she will kill him. Originally released to television as individual episodes of "The Vise".

In September 1944, the red army crosses the Danube. Private Ales together with his agricultural horses follows the victory march. A broken wheel of his cart forces Ales to fall behind and look for help in the nearby village. The "odyssey" of the common cavalry soldier begins. He becomes a friend with the Bulgarian peasants.
